April 15th Substitute

This project, ( the sci-fi movie trailer) is due at the end of class on Thursday. The directions for the project are still located in the second post below this one. If you have any questions at all  and get hung up or stuck then google search your question/problem. If you still don't find a solution then ask the people around you, someone around you knows how to help you. For the couple of you that were following along with me in this project I included a link at the bottom if this post for a tutorial that you have to do.

After Effects tutorial link ( must copy and paste. The tutorial starts off by downloading a font but the font doesn't matter so just use whatever font that you want.) http://youtu.be/RsLpKNsTliE

If you do not wish to do this tutorial here is a link to another option: http://youtu.be/F4Tws5NYQMs ( he has some lame jokes to look past. Google search the texture he uses or just find a texture if your own, the texture doesn't matter, it's going to be your wall.)

Sci-fi Trailer Project: Aliens Vs Monsters Vs Robots Part 8 "Here We Go Again .... Again"

Today's project is a little less involved than our last commercial project. The project is to create a sci-fi trailer for a movie entitle: Aliens Vs Monsters Vs Robots Part 8 "Here We Go Again .... Again." So you must find images from the internet of aliens/ or u.f.o.s, monster(s) and robot(s). You must use text like in the example(s) that I showed in class (there are also links below for trailers). It's easiest if you find these images and open them in photoshop and clear the backgrounds from the pictures so you are left with the objects that you want to use on a transparent background. You can do that by deleting the background in the image and saving the image as a ".png" file. The trailer must be between 45 and 60 seconds long.

This project affords the opportunity to use an array of special effects for laser beams, rockets, explosions, color flashes, disintegrating ray guns etc. etc. I prefer the projects to be in black and white and made to mimic the vintage classic sci-fi style of the 50's but it is up to you if you want to use color.

You do not have to add audio but it will only enhance the viewing pleasure of your trailer. I suggest ripping sound effects off of youtube (for example for a moster roar or growl I would youtube search "sound effects growl" or "sound effects roar" or something to that effect.) We are not permitted to rip songs off of youtube due to copy write issues so just stick to the sound effects. If you want to record your own voice or someone else's voice to be the narrator of your trailer to mimic the classic sci-fi trailers then that will only enhance the overall enjoyment of your project but I will not grade against you if you choose not to.

So again this project must include the title of the film which is "Aliens Vs Monsters Vs Robots Part 8 "Here We Go Again .... Again" , it must include images of robots, "monsters" and aliens or u.f.o.'s and must be between 45 and 60 seconds. This project will be due Friday, April 11th at the end of class so you have plenty of time to finish this up. I will be doing the same project on the projector in class to help with questions that you might have or to hopefully give some sort of inspiration for your project. Last Day of Commercial Project / New Tutorial

Today is the day that the commercials are due. For those of you that chose to opt out of the commercial your folder with two tutorials is also due but there is a new catch; you have an additional tutorial due as well. That makes a total of three tutorials for all of you math wizards out there. The link for the tutorial is at the end of the post. The fella doing the tutorial moves along quickly so pay attention. Before you raise your hand with a question go back a minute or so in the video and watch again for bits of information that you probably missed. If you still cannot understand raise your hand and I will help, that's what I'm here for. You will also eventually need a textured background, it doesn't really matter what background you use so here a couple that I found on the internet that you can use.
